Unboxing Angel Tarot Cards by Doreen Virtue

I’ve seen this deck used in videos from time to time but never really thought anything of it. I didn’t know what it was really; was it an Oracle deck? Tarot deck? It sure said Tarot Cards on the box but they look and read like Oracle cards! Then I saw it was in the Top 10 most popular Tarot Decks on Amazon and it made me dig a little deeper. It made me feel like I was missing out on something and now I’m glad I followed that instinct!

First Impressions

While I can’t provide a proper review yet since I just received and unboxed the cards today, there are a few first impressions that I want to point out. Firstly, those gilded edges! I tried to snap a photo of the intense shine on the card boarders since I just love it! However, be prepared to be completely covered in glitter. It will be on your clothes, in the palms of your hands, on the table, everywhere. I’m sure it won’t be a problem after a couple of readings, but be prepared for that glossy glow!

Now that you have a new shine to your look, also be prepared for achy hands. This deck is HUGE. It’s the same size as Oracle cards (wider than standard Tarot cards) however instead of around 40ish cards, they are a 78 card full size standard Tarot deck. I’m having a challenging time shuffling these because of small hands, so I may have to figure out a different technique for these. On a similar topic, most of the cards came stuck together. So I had to make sure and go through each card individually to make sure they weren’t stuck to the back of the previous card.

Other than those concerns, I’m really loving it. The card stock is great, the artwork paints a magical story and the accompanied definitions on the bottom of the cards just seem to make me smile as I flip through them. I haven’t done any readings with the deck yet so I can’t report on how well it reads, but I honestly can’t wait to dig in!

Do you have this deck? What do you think of it? How well does it read for you?

Until next time!
Celia

Ohh I wouldn’t actually mind a deck that gets glitter everywhere 🙂

I had her Angel oracle deck way back when. I think I only did one reading with them for a friend who has an angel obsession. She ended up making the experience kind of bad and the deck ended up with negative connotations after that. But your post makes me kind of miss them!

Silly enough after shuffling it so much last night, playing around with spreads and exploring the cards, the glitter eventually stopped showing up on my hands and it bummed me out a little! Ha, figures!

How is the artwork?? I’m choosing between this deck and the chrysalis tarot which I can’t deck decide until i know how the artwork is…I’ve seen some pics, but, noting compares it to a person who has the deck. So how does the artwork feel??? Is it like one of her orace decks? I have her angel therapy deck.

Hey Patricia! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my blog! 🙂 I’ll be honest and up front here, while I do really enjoy the Angel Tarot, I’m not all that thrilled with the artwork. YES, the artwork is amazing. BUT, a lot of the images look like they had a rough time printing on the cards themselves. A lot of the artwork seems low resolution and very pixelated. This hasn’t made it difficult reading them, but sometimes if I look deep in the imagery, it bugs me a little. Let me know if you end up getting the Chrysalis! I’ve been wanting it + I’m dying to hear how it is! Let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂

I got my chrysalis on January okay here is the thing…..I absolutely love the artwork of the chrysalis not like the angel tarot BUT the chrysalis to me is much more grounded deck it’s a really deep deck and you have to read it your own way, intuitively without looking at the guidebook or thinking about the meanings on traditional tarot. It works like an oracle deck.

But to me it’s a totally grounded deck, I bought the angel tarot this August and…..😂😂😂 if only I can take the images of the angel tarot and use the same method of drawing the chrysalis tarot that would definitely be my one and only deck!😆

I love the story of the angel tarot like your going to a different planet each time you look at it, but yeah photographic manipulation isn’t my kind of the deck but I still use it though, while the chrysalis I love the way the artist made it by pastels I believe I WISH is that the angel tarot was more made by hand rather than what it is now…

So I say Chrysalis Tarot is a deck for deepening your understanding with yourself and others by keeping you more grounded with a child-like perception, at the same time finding the truth. Angel tarot is more spiritual, chrysalis tarot is also spiritual but it’s still more attached to nature. Angel tarot is more like getting guidance by Spirit/the Divine and also you finding out for yourself what it is that you really need to know.

If only I can mash them together 😄😄 but yeah I use them both but more on the chrysalis tarot.
